Church website design that answers what visitors came to ask

Church website design means building a site around the four things a visitor actually looks for: when services start, where the building is, how to give, and what the last sermon said. Christian Web Designer builds these sites from Schwaz, Austria, for congregations worldwide, with fixed prices starting at $1,200.

Starting price $1,200 Basic package, 1-2 subpages, 2 revision rounds
Typical build time 3-5 weeks From kickoff call to launch
Hosting and email $15 per month Includes up to 10 email addresses
Editing skill needed None Text and images change without touching code

What do people actually look for on a church website?

Visitors to a church website arrive with one of four errands: they want the service time, the address, a way to give, or a sermon they missed. Everything else is secondary. A church website that hides service times behind a menu fails its most common visitor on the first click.

This is why Christian Web Designer puts service time and address in the header of every church site, visible without scrolling and without opening a menu. The pattern is unglamorous and it works.

The second group of visitors matters just as much: people considering a first visit. They are asking whether they will feel out of place. Photographs of the actual congregation answer that question better than any paragraph of welcome text.

Who updates the site after launch?

In most congregations the person updating the website is a volunteer with other responsibilities. A church website that requires technical knowledge to change a service time will be out of date within three months.

Every site Christian Web Designer builds ships with a simplified editing view. It shows only the sections that change: sermons, events, team, service times. There is no code, no plugin menu, and no theme settings to get lost in.

Training is one session of about 45 minutes, recorded so the next volunteer can watch it instead of being trained again.

How long does a church website take to build?

A church website in the Basic package takes three to five weeks from the kickoff call to launch. The longest step is almost never the design work. It is waiting for text, photographs and decisions from the church.

Christian Web Designer reduces that delay by supplying the first draft of every page of text. The congregation edits rather than writes from an empty page, which is far faster and produces better results.

Larger projects with ten or more subpages run six to ten weeks.

What does a church website cost?

The Basic package is $1,200 and covers a homepage with one or two subpages and two revision rounds. It suits a church plant or a small congregation that needs a clear, current presence.

The Medium package is $2,000 and covers up to five subpages. Shop or donation-store functionality adds $1,800.

Larger projects start at $4,000, include ten or more subpages, two SEO landing pages and three revision rounds. Hosting with email is $15 per month. Detailed figures are on the church website cost page.

Does a church website need online giving?

Online giving is worth adding when a congregation has members who attend irregularly, gives to a specific project, or receives support from outside the local area. For a small congregation where everyone attends weekly and gives in person, it can wait.

The technical setup is not the hard part. Choosing a provider whose fees do not quietly consume a meaningful share of small gifts is. That comparison sits on the online giving fees page.

Will the site work on phones?

Most visits to a church website happen on a phone, often on a Saturday evening or Sunday morning while someone is deciding whether to attend. A church website that requires pinching and zooming loses that visitor.

Every site is built mobile-first and tested on real devices before launch, not only in a desktop browser at a narrow window width.

Frequently asked questions

Do you work with churches outside Austria?

Yes. Christian Web Designer is based in Schwaz, Austria, and works with congregations across Europe, North America and Africa. Communication is in English, meetings run by video call, and invoicing is in US dollars.

Do we own the website afterwards?

Yes. The domain, the content and the site itself belong to the church. There is no licence that expires and no lock-in that makes leaving expensive.

Can you work with our existing logo and colours?

Yes. If a church already has a visual identity, the site is built to match it. Where none exists, a simple, durable one is proposed as part of the project.

What if nobody on our team is technical?

That is the normal case and the site is designed for it. The editing view hides everything that is not text, image or date. Most volunteers are comfortable after one 45-minute session.

Do you maintain the site after launch?

Yes, through the maintenance package. It covers updates, backups, security monitoring and small content changes. Details are on the maintenance cost page.

Can you migrate our current site?

Yes. Existing content, sermon archives and page addresses are carried over, with redirects so that existing links and search rankings survive the move.
